Another thing I'd like to do!

You might not recognize them, but those are Wimbledon tennis tickets pictured above, and thats right, if I could afford to hop across the pond to the UK I would definitely like to watch a little tennis. I am almost always impressed by the athleticism displayed by the pro's as they play on the grass courts. With the Wimbledon tournament fast approaching I, out of curiosity, checked out Team One Tickets to see just what it would cost to attend.

Let's just say ouch, I don't think I have the funds to pull that one off in the next few years. And that doesn't even include the airfare. :(

But, Wimbledon is the oldest major championship in tennis and it is also regarded by many to be the most prestigious tennis championship in the world. For an event like that I'd expect to shell out a few bucks to see the greatest tennis players in the world vie for the trophies, cash prizes, and, well, the prestige. I bet it would be a fantastic time.

Puzzle Coffee Table

The design of the Cuba Libre Wood Coffee Table a first for me, though it is obvious. Two contrasting colors (black and white) form the puzzle pieces of the top. The choice of colors will also allow the Cuba Libre Wood Coffee Table to be used in most spaces.

Want some cheap internet service?

This may be a little off topic for a blog about futons, but a recent visitor to my blog reminded me of the ISP that my former employer used to have. The company is called Conversent, well they used to be anyhow. Now they're calling themselves one communications though the ISP is still registered under the old name.

So, check out their services you may be able to save $10 a month on you internet.

Bedding for your teen

One category of accessories that I don't have a whole lot of experience with is teen bedding. Partially that's because I don't sell any "childrens" furniture. I do sell tons of futons to college kids but nothing traditionally for kids. So, when I took a look at
the selection of bedding for teenagers at Vision Bedding I was actually quite impressed. The options were many, colors, themes, designs, you name it, they should have it. I think Vision Bedding probably has something for everyone, well, maybe not Star Trek fans :)

So, if you're looking for something unique for your son or daughter, you'll find some great bedding sets at www.VisionBedding.com. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Gute Sofa

The name, Gute, refers to the sheep found on the Swedish island of Gotland. The sofa comes covered in the softest wool from the Gotland sheep in Natures own grey shades, or in soft aniline skin. An exciting way to furnish your space could be to place the bench freely in the middle of the room, facing the most interesting view.

Little Red Chair

This Little Red Chair from Jantze Brogård Asshoff is quite an interesting piece. The embroidery on the seat is a great accent, and lends a whole new dimension to the chair. I could see a set in my breakfast nook.

Social Spark, a new blog network

One thing I really dig now a days is a good social network geared towards bloggers like SocialSpark. Especially since Google is coming down on bloggers that want to make money from their hard work and tireless writing. So, here's my thoughts on Social Spark. If anyone here has been looking for a network to find new leads as a blogger, or advertise your business Social Spark is another good option.

The Social Spark format is very appealing, it made me want to explore the site to see what was available. At first I was a bit confused by the opportunity selection process, but then I realized that I should probably add my blogs to my profile in order to become eligible for anything. I have a bad habit of not reading the FAQ's and just trying to figure things out for myself. Well, with that out of the way, I decided to have a look around to see what else was available. You'll find post exchanges, the Izea blog, message boards, and a cool feature that lets you browse through the other bloggers. I set up an account of my own, head on over and shoot me a message.

In summary, Social Spark isn't a ground breaking idea, but it does improve on some of the current blog advertising networks on the market today. So, head on over and take a browse for yourself. This is a post sponsored by Social Spark.

Memory Box?!

Yu Zhao has some very interesting ideas that combine design and philosophy. One great example is the Bad Memory Box pictured above. The idea behind the box is to give you a place to hide your bad feelings in plain site, since we hardly let them show anyway. :D

Via Yu Zhao:

Bad memory box intend to go against with our “dishonest” consumptions, which often take furniture as a status symbol for showing wealthy and tastes. Instead, it cares more about the nature of our emotion states.
It’s a storage box for your bad memories or unwanted things but still have meanings for you which you don’t want to discard and destroy, but also don’t want to see the details of them. So block them inside! Show the scar outside.

More window treatments

BlindCentralOnline.com has got just what you need to spruce up your windows. From
Cellular Shades to Levolor mini blinds, BlindCentralOnline.com has a great selection at very reasonable prices. I think my favorite window treatment on the site have to be the Cellular Shades. Both form an economic stance as well as style, Cellular shades look great and insulate against cold and hot. In this day and age, with oil prices on the rise every cent counts. The layout of BlindCentralOnline.com is very straight forward, with info readily at hand and easy navigation. I liked the play on the whole "shade" concept in relation to the dark background as well. If you're looking to upgrade your window treatments, BlindCentralOnline.com is a good place to browse.

One end table to rule them all!

This end table designed by Yu Zhao has got to be one of the more versatile peices I've seen in some time. The idea behind the CHANGEis so cool:

An object with uncertain functions will be more efficient and useful for you to live and have fun.

Check out the Yu Zhao website, I think you'll get a kick out of it.

Silver Drinks

Apparently there is a bit of a feud taking place between the pharmaceutical industry and the makers of colloidal silver drinks. As I understand it, the man pictured above, Paul Karason ("The Blue Man"), got his skin condition when he tried to make a homemade colloidal silver concoction. What Paul didn't realize is that the formula he used didn't produce colloidal silver, now a dietary supplement which was formerly produced by pharmaceutical companies as a general antibiotic under various names, including Protargol and Argyrol. But the material was costly and the pharmaceutical industry developed fast-acting, less-expensive sulfa drugs and penicillin. Colloidal silver has been approved by the EPA as a disinfectant for hospitals and medical centers however.

What Paul did produce was a compound called silver chloride, which he then ingested and used topically. This is why he now looks like Veruca Salt, due to a lack of understanding.

Are metal futon frames ok?

In my opinion, NO! It may be hard to see in the image, but there is almost no support in this type of futon frame. The "slats" aren't really slats at all. They're really metal bars that are spaced about six inches apart, thus they provide no support.

Now, there are some frames on the market that are metal and wood combo frames with flexible wood slats. Those frames are different. The spacing on wood slats is appropriate to provide support. Rounded metal bars only create pressure points, especially when they're too far apart.

Shopping cart options?

When I first setup Goodnight Moon Futon I instinctively used the ecommerce software that I was familiar with. I knew the code and setup like the back of my hand. I did this despite the fact that I knew this particular software really limited what I could do with my site. Since then I have found so many options that I wish I knew about before going forward with my current cart provider. Take AmeriCommerce for example. Their cart has tons of features at a great price. Like multiple store fronts from the same cart, custom templates, and a packed Search Engine Optimization feature, just to name a few. If you're in the process of setting up a web store, you should definitely check them out..

Savannah Futon Frame

Last month the Savannah Futon Frame was definitely the best seller at Goodnight Moon Futon. And, if you couldn't tell, it's not hard to see why. First, have you seen the great price that the Savannah sells for? All of the sizes are under $200 shipped to your door. At a close second has to be the five year warranty offered on the frame. The Savannah is durable and built to last. It's no wonder its our best selling frame for April.

Prescriptions

When Noelle's grandmother, Marie, lived with us last year we used a service that filled her online prescriptions similar to the one I just found. eDrugstore.md is an online pharmacy that only provides FDA-approved prescription medications. And, as you may have guessed about an online business, their prices are pretty great. Plus eDrugstore.md offers repeat customers a pretty good deal as well.

Via eDrugstore:

After your first order, we will take $20 off the retail price of all online prescriptions ordered through our Online Pharmacy Refill Page

Not too shabby, EH?

So, not only does eDrugstore offer great pricing and incentives, they also have some useful information on the site regarding health questions. Not surprisingly, however, is the fact that quite a bit of the info is in reference to sexual health questions (that's what you get online). It's not overly pushy or anything, but it is there.

To recap, if you're interested in saving money on your prescriptions, head over to eDrugstore to see what they have to offer.

Futon Platform

Over the past few months I've noticed quite a few searches for the term "futon platform". Usually I think that this term refers to a futon platform bed, or a bed without a boxspring. The platform is then made out of wooden slats that provide support and ventilation at the same time.

What do you think? Is my theory on the money?

Speeding Ticket Woes!

I just read a very informative article over at The Original Ticket Busters on How To Beat a Speeding Ticket in California. The article follows a driver in California the got a speeding ticket when his speed was clocked by a police plane. He was pulled over a few miles later by a highway patrol officer, even though at that point he was traveling at the speed limit. Sounds pretty bad right? Well, luckily for the driver the there are some certain loop holes when it comes to traffic enforcement. Things like proper uniforms, marked automobiles, and attendance at ticket dispute hearings all make a difference in the outcome of your ticket. The moral of the story is, know your local traffic laws in order to beat your ticket.

Upholstery Fabric

If I was only located in Europe I would definitely be working out an account with Bisson Brunell. The carry a wide selection of upholstery grade fabrics in quite a few colors, materials, and patterns. What is also nice are the use of natural blends, the majority of fabrics I found on their site contain a hefty amount of cotton.

I could see quite a few futon covers being made out of their fabrics, now I just have to figure out how!

Check them out, you'll enjoy it.

Home Accents

Here's a nice addition to our list of home accents, Mailbox and Beyond. They have some really nice mailboxes and address plaques that will definitely add a little curb appeal to your home. I'm sure people will take notice, especially since they won't be able to find something that unique for their home. Unless you give them a link to Mailbox and Beyond that is ;)

How did everyone do on the pagerank update?

Yesterday the various webmaster forums were awash in panic or elation over the Google Page Rank update. Personally I saw no change in the sites I constantly work on. My aikido blog jumped from a 0 to a three, which I must say was nice. All in all, I think the update went as smoothly as possible, and I didn't see any glitches in the system.

How did you all do? Hopefully better than I did.
